Vault by Vans and Deaton Chris Anthony Launch a Collection of Footwear and Apparel to Bring Style Back to Bowling
Vault by Vans welcomes Deaton Chris Anthony (DCA) back to the helm, this time to launch a collection of footwear and apparel. The Los Angeles-based artist, musician and designer pays homage to his home state of Kansas and explores his quest to bowl the perfect 300. The Vault by Vans x Deaton Chris Anthony collection will launch on Vans.com and select Vault by Vans retailers beginning December 9.
Before becoming an artist, designer and a producer of the biggest hits for pop stars you know and love today, Deaton Chris Anthony called Kansas home. It is here where he thought he was meant to do one thing and one thing only – bowl. At the age of 12, he placed the highest score in his age group in the state of Kansas. He went on to become the bowling captain in high school and continued to grow his skills and demolished his previous high score with a 286 at regionals. As the years went by, DCA could never beat this high score. Those 14 missed pins haunted him.
After moving to Los Angeles he began to follow his creative pursuits and after a few years rediscovered his passion for bowling by focusing on a mission to make bowling stylish again. The footwear lineup features the OG SCS LX, a tri-tone low-top that resembles the look of a bowling shoe but remixed and remastered the DCA way featuring pebbled leather red, white and blue uppers, and Velcro closure. The heel counter has been updated to have a kick-back, collapsible heel counter and printed size labels. The OG SCS LX is finished with a siped gum sole that has directions to place your own bowling pads for bowling functionality. Early childhood memories of mowing the lawn in Kansas helped inform the design direction for the Knu Skool VLT LX, which features greased-treated leather uppers to mimic grass stains from mowing the lawn in your white Vans.
To complete the look, DCA expands his ever-growing repertoire of clothing and brings a three-piece assortment of apparel and accessories. Keeping true to his DIY-aesthetic, each piece from the 2-in-1 Tee to the Boxy Fleece feature DIY guidelines so pieces can be mixed, matched, cut and made unique.
